The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) has decided to introduce five diploma courses and six new Certificate Courses in art and culture and related subjects.
In a statement, the Ministry of Culture said that the basic aim of the courses is to create arts and culture with all its dimension and information technology to design and develop content exploration system to intensify culture learning and visualisation.
Considered as the country’s premier Arts organisation, IGNCA employees modern digital tools, techniques, and methodologies to achieve the intended purposes.
The five courses introduced are one year Post Graduate Diploma evening courses which will help attract people towards Indian art.
The Ministry said that through the courses an attempt is being made to “make our ancient knowledge and achievements accessible on a multimedia platform, thus enabling communication between the ancient and modern knowledge”.
The courses for the academic year 2018-19 are PG Diploma in Cultural Informatics, PG Diploma in Preventive Conservation, PG Diploma in Buddhist Studies, PG Diploma in Digital Library and Data Management and PG Diploma in Manuscriptology and Palaeography.
According to the Ministry, the six certificate courses will help scholars, researchers and students gain knowledge of management technique and professional approach towards art management so that they can better present the country’s rich cultural and artistic legacy before a global audience.
The six courses are Academic Integrity and Research Ethics, Open Access for Library and Information Science Professionals, Open Access for Researchers, Digital Library and Information Management, Research Methodology and Cinema Studies and Cultural Documentation.
